Title

Small heat shock proteins in fibrosis of eye tissues

Project Description

We are investigating the role of alphaB-crystallin in fibrosis of eye tissues, specifically lens and retinal fibrosis that occurs after cataract surgery and age-related macular degeneration, respectively. The project will cover how phosphorylation of alphaB-crystallin affects its fibrosis promoting properties. The project will use human epithelial cells from eye tissues, and possibly some animal experiments. State of the art biochemical techniques will be utilized in this project
