Title

Mechanisms of brain metastatic colonization in breast cancer

Project Description

Dr. Cittelly lab uses a combination of in vitro (invasion, migration, proliferation assays), ex vivo (organotypic brain slices, confocal imaging) and in vivo (experimental and spontaneous metastases) models to study the unique interactions between the brain microenvironment and metastatic breast cancer cells.  Projects include studies on the paracrine mechanisms by which estrogen changes the brain microenvironment to promote brain metastatic colonization.
