Project Description

​Dr. Alvarez is a neurologist who sub-specializes in multiple sclerosis and related inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord such as neuromyelitis optica (NMO), neurosarcoid, vasculitis, and neurolupus among others. He is interested in biomarkers to improve diagnosis and guide treatment decisions. Studies include retrospective chart studies to compare currently available therapies, MRI and patient reported outcomes to evaluate current therapies, and laboratory biomarkers including microparticles/exosomes to evaluate tissue damage.
