Dr. Mandava’s research interests include anti-angiogenesis in macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, complex retinal detachment, and ocular trauma. He has been involved in several clinical trials to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of agents for treatment of vitreomacular adhesion, ischemic optic neuropathy, and a large number of anti-angiogenic agents. As department head, Dr. Mandava has taken a leadership role in promoting fundamental vision research at the University of Colorado. Dr. Mandava has also played an important role in working with the university and local agencies to develop a culture supportive of translational research efforts.
