NLST is a multicenter imaging trial that was launched in the fall of 2002 by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), to compare lung cancer mortality rates in high-risk individuals by either low-radiation-dose CT or chest radiography. Computerized aided methods will be used to assess change in indeterminate lung modules and to assess if malignant nodule can be differentiated from benign.
Assess tumor response: Quantifying longitudinal changes in tumor volumes could eventually become a more useful surrogate endpoint for assessing tumor responses or progression events than simple uni-dimensional measurements (RECIST). Compare these two methods in eligible patients from ongoing clinical trials at UCCC and correlate with metabolic (SUV) information using combined PET CT.
