At Project Safe, we conduct NIH-funded behavioral research with drug users. We use behavioral interventions, such as Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Contingency Management, and others, to examine reduction of sex and injection risk behaviors among people who use drugs. The drugs that our clients use include heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and prescription drugs. We have been conducting this research since 1987 and have been continually funded since that time.
