Title

Viral infections of the central nervous system

Status

Open

Project Description

We are interested in understanding the mechanisms by which viruses kill neurons and cause disease in the central nervous system. We have shown that apoptosis is an important mechanism of virus-induced neuronal death and are in the process of defining apoptotic signaling pathways that are activated in the CNS following infection with neurotropic viruses, including reovirus and West Nile virus.
