Project Description

 

Efforts in clinical outcomes and health services research within the Rheumatology Division are headed by Dr. Caplan. His major interest is in pharmacoepidemiology and he has focused on the toxicities of therapies for rheumatoid arthritis (including use of steroids). A number of projects are available for students to use statistical methods to understand the relationships of risk factors (including medications) and health outcomes.  Dr. Caplan's expertise extends to use of large administrative datasets and the creation of registries. He is an investigator with the Veterans Affairs Rheumatoid Arthritis registry and the VA's Program to Understand the Longterm Outcomes in SpondyloARthritis (PULSAR) registry.
