Project Description
The primary work of our research group is to advance the care of childhood asthma. We are involved in several NIH asthma networks including the NHLBI Childhood Asthma Management Program, NIAID Inner City Asthma Consortium, and the NHLBI AsthmaNet. As such, we are following the natural history of childhood asthma and conducting intervention studies to improve asthma management in infants, children, adolescents and adults. We also have an NIEHS/EPA Childhood and Environmental Health Center Grant to evaluate the role of the environment on respiratory diseases in children. In addition, we direct a Denver Public School Asthma Program to improve asthma care in children by addressing health disparities. We can provide students interested in a career in academic medicine, especially in relation to childhood asthma, experience in participating in clinical research activities involving study design, implementation, data analysis, presentation and publication.
