Phases III and IV Evaluation Requirements

Phase 3
    • Students are required to complete evaluations of all clerkships and sites.
      • Block Directors decide if clerkships and sites are evaluated together or separately.
    • Students are required to evaluate attendings and fellows/residents in all clerkships.
      • Block Directors determine the criteria for selecting which attendings and fellows/residents students will evaluate and who will assess the students.  These criteria are presented at the block orientation.
    • Evaluations are released to students three days before and close 10 business days after the rotation ends.
    • An email reminder is sent to students who have not completed their evaluation requirements every 4 days after the rotation ends.  If a student fails to complete an evaluation, he or she is reported to the Clinical Block Director and advised to contact the coordinator to reopen the evaluation.  Students may be given an IP grade if they fail to complete evaluations.

    Phase 4
      • Students are required to complete course evaluations of all sub-internships and fourth year electives.
      • Students are required to evaluate attendings and fellows/residents in all sub-internships.
      • Block Directors determine the criteria for selecting which attendings and fellows/residents students will evaluate and who will assess the students.
      • Students may be required to complete evaluations of attendings and fellows/residents in electives as determined by the course director.  Clinical electives may use the same evaluations used in sub-internships.  Didactic and research electives will often involve paper and pencil evaluations developed by the course director.
      • On-line evaluations are released to students three days before and close 10 business days after the rotation ends.
      • An email reminder is sent to students who have not completed their evaluation requirements every 4 days after the rotation ends.  If a student fails to complete an evaluation, he or she is reported to the sub-internship or elective director and advised to contact the coordinator to reopen the evaluation.  Students may be given an IP grade if they fail to complete evaluations.
