A Pediatric Urologic Surgeon is a surgical specialist who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of abnormalities involving the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, genital and reproductive organs of children. Dr. Duncan Wilcox, Associate Professor of Surgery, University of Colorado School of Medicine (UCD) is the Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Urology at The Children’s Hospital. Dr. Jeffrey Campbell, Assistant Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics (UCD), is Director of several specialty clinics: the Spinal Defects/Neuro-Urology Clinic, the Prenatal/Neonatal Urology Clinic and the Minimally Invasive/Endo-Urology Program.
Our pediatric urologists work as a team of child specialists with pediatric nurses, nurse practitioners and support personnel. A “Dry Time Clinic” has been established to deal primarily with children with simple urinary infections and common disorders of body waste elimination such as: bed wetting, urine holding and leaking, and constipation. The team uses great care in treating each child and its family individually, ensuring that each child’s visit is as comfortable and pleasant as possible. When a broader approach to a particular childhood problem would benefit the needs of the child, the Pediatric Urology Team works closely with the myriad of pediatric specialties available at this large tertiary referral center. Surgery at The Children’s Hospital is always done utilizing full-time pediatric anesthesia specialists who offer the highest level of pediatric anesthesia and also deal with perioperative and chronic pain issues.
Our team works primarily at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. The Children’s Hospital is the pre-eminent pediatric hospital in the Rocky Mountain area. Because of our location at a hospital exclusively dedicated to the care of children, our team has available every advantage to assure the best possible outcome and experience for both the child and parent.
