Dr. Kubek completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University with an initial focus on Fine Art and
later Biology. He graduated from
Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2007 and completed his
General Surgery residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC in June
2012. His primary interests are
Head/Neck/Abdominal reconstruction, correction of congenital deformities, cleft
lip and palate, craniomaxillofacial surgery, and repair of injuries secondary
to trauma. In addition, Dr. Kubek works
to expand medical/surgical care and education to underserved and marginalized
communities through improved implementation of Short Term Medical Missions. In addition to work in the rural United States,
he has worked in Mexico, Brazil, Honduras, Ecuador, and Guatemala. In 2001 he helped found the first student
chapter of Timmy Global Health (TGH) at Indiana University, Bloomington, with
Dr. Dionissi Aliprantis and Dr. Charles Dietzen. Today TGH (www.timmyglobalhealth.org) has
student led chapters on nearly 40 university campuses in the United States and
Puerto Rico (University of Colorado and Colorado State University among them)
with 500 student volunteers annually.
