In 1995, we began to recognize the need for trauma research and training the next generation of surgeons. Inspired by post World War II giants like Swan, Starzl and Eisemann, who attended and guided our meetings; we realized the essentiality of growing bold surgical investigators. Both Drs. Moore and Banerjee and every other current mentor are products of this tutelage albeit from different backgrounds. Surgery at its highest level of training is strict, the trick consist of helping talented individual to break the box, and becoming free-thinking but competent and confident investigators.
