Dr. Robert Werthwein received his BA in Psychology and English from the College of New Jersey and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Howard University. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Jersey Shore Medical Center with emphasis on adult and child outpatient therapy as well as inpatient consultation liaison. Dr. Werthwein also completed a post-doctoral fellowship with the Harris Infant Mental Health Program at the University of Colorado.
Before joining the Depression Center, Dr. Werthwein worked for the Kempe Center for Abused and Neglected Children where he worked on child development and trauma studies as well as providing clinical services to families and young children. Dr. Werthwein also worked at the Kempe Therapeutic Preschool as a post-doctoral fellow providing trauma based therapy to young children.
Dr. Werthwein has previous research experience related to childhood post-traumatic stress disorder, behavioral medicine, sleep disorders, and effectiveness of innovative psychotherapy treatments.
