Adria Pearson PhD
Dr. Adria Pearson is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Departments of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at the CU School of Medicine. She holds a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno where she trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (DBT) under Dr. Allen Fruzzetti. Dr. Pearson completed her internship and residency in psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery at the VA Long Beach Healthcare system.
Her clinical practice includes adults with a broad array of psychiatric diagnoses. She has specialty training in treating complex and severe mental health problems. Her clinical approach utilizes evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy approaches, including CBT for anxiety and mood disorders, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Pearson also provides clinician training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy through the CU Depression Center. She also teaches in the clinical health psychology program at CU Denver. Her research focus is on ACT treatment, development and outcome research. She has presented at national and international conferences on this topic, and co-authored the 2010 book, ACT for Body Image Dissatisfaction (Pearson, Follette & Hayes, 2010).
