Welcome to Pulmonology

The Department of Pediatrics Section of Pulmonology provides clinical services at Children's Hospital Colorado,  National Jewish Health, and at outreach clinics in Colorado and Montana. 

As a national referral center, we are dedicated to providing professional education at all levels and are committed to advancing knowledge through our comprehensive research programs.

We currently have twenty-four full-time pediatric faculty members and five fellows.

  • Pulmonology at Children's Hospital Colorado is ranked #4 in the nation by U.S.News & World Report
  • Parents Magazine ranks Children's Hospital Colorado #2 in the nation in pulmonary care
  • Scott Sagel obtained his PhD in Clinical Science in 2010. Dr. Sagel has been appointed as the director of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center. He has provided CF care since 1999 and has been the Associate Center Director since 2005. Dr. Frank Accurso, who served as CF Center Director since 1987, continues to support the Center as the Associate Center Director
  • Dr. Vivek Balasubramaniam has been selected as the Pulmonary representative to the Society for Pediatric Research Council for a 3-year term effective in the fall of 2011
  • Frank Accurso was awarded Physician of the Year, Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Association of North America in 2009
