The Department of Pediatrics Section of Pulmonology provides clinical services at Children's Hospital ColoradoNational Jewish Health, and at outreach clinics in Colorado and Montana. 

As a national referral center, we are dedicated to providing professional education at all levels and are committed to advancing knowledge through our comprehensive research programs.

Research among our faculty examines the causes and treatments of a wide range of pediatric pulmonary disorders.


  • Drs. Carl White and Livia Veress showcased their NIH grant projects at the 11th Annual National NIHCounterACT Conference in Boston, MA, on June 12-16th, 2017. Pediatric Pulmonary Fellow, Matt McGraw, MD, also had a chance to present his research project during two small platform presentations, and a poster, showcasing his work on mechanisms of bronchiolitis obliterans formation.

  • The Center for Women’s Health Research​ (CWHR) hosted the annual meeting of its Scientific Council, a group of scientists from CU and universities across the country. Stacey Simon, PhD, presented her CWHR-funded research on sleep disorders and insulin resistance in adolescent girls with obesity.

  • Dr. Robin Deterding was featured in the American Thoracic Society’s online news bulletin, “Building Better Leaders and Better Systems.”

  • Matthew McGraw, MD, (Pulmonology Fellow) received the 2017 Donald E. Gardner Inhalation Toxicology Education Award​ from the Society of Toxicology (SOT).

  • Dr. Christopher Baker was invited to speak at the Pediátrico Centro Habana in Havana Cuba by Dr. Gladys Abreu Suarez, President of the Cuban Pediatric Society. Dr. Baker gave a presentation on chronic ventilation for severe neonatal lung disease.
