The Department of Pediatrics Section of Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine provides clinical services at Children's Hospital ColoradoNational Jewish Health, and at outreach clinics in Colorado and Montana.

  • Heather Hoch, MD, and Stan Szefler, MD, had their research highlighted and provided key information for an article published in the NY Times by pediatrician Perri Klass entitled, “Asthma Doesn’t Take a Vacation​".

  • Colorado Step Up Asthma Program​ received a Community Appreciation Award from Sheridan School District. Maryann Ceballos, Asthma Counselor and Melanie Gleason, PA, received certificates of appreciation on behalf of the program on May 17th, 2018.

  • Oren Kupfer, MD, received the Gary Way Award and the James Todd Morning Report Teaching Excellence Award from the Pediatric Residents.

  • Robin Deterding, MD, wrote an op-ed that was published in the Boulder Daily Camera​ opposing a permanent sales tax credit for Colorado-based tobacco distributors who sell cigars and other tobacco products to out-of-state consumers online.

  • Tina Papantonakis, MD, and Trish Eells, NP, were named Providers of the Month for April by Children’s Hospital Colorado​ Medical Staff Services.

  • Scott Sagel, MD, PhD, was the nationwide principal investigator of a multicenter cystic fibrosis (CF) clinical trial of an antioxidant-enriched multivitamin​ and lead author of a manuscript recently accepted for publication in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
