Epileptogenesis Lab

We are intrested in finding out what are the molecular events that transform a normal brain into an epileptic one. This process of transformation, also known as epileptogenesis, involves a plethora of molecular, biochemical and structural changes.

We are looking out for the mechanisms underling epileptogenesis in order to find a target to prevent the appearance of epileptic seizures characteristic of epilepsy.

For our studies we use several techniques that include, but are not limited to:

  • Western Blot
  • RT-PCR
  • Immunocitochemistry
  • Confocal Microscopy
  • Stereotaxic Surgery
  • Electrode Implantation
  • EEG/Video Recordings

Our lab is currently accepting rotation students.
