Edwin Liu, MD, earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1996. He completed his Pediatric Residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1999, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2003. Dr. Liu joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital Colorado in 2003.

Dr. Liu’s research work focuses on the study of autoimmunity in type 1 diabetes and celiac diseas, eanalysis of current diagnostic testing for celiac disease, and the genetics of celiac disease. He has been awarded a five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health to research “Altering the Pl of Peptide Vaccines to Avoid Anaphylaxis,” and he holds a patent for “Antibodies to Insulin Peptide B:9-23 Prevent Type 1 Diabetes.”

Dr. Liu has won several prestigious awards. He serves as a peer reviewer for several professional medical journals and is widely published in both journal articles and book chapters.
