Dr. Lorca completed his PhD in Physiology at P. Catholic University of Chile, where he studied the role of ion channels and trace metals in neuronal excitability. He followed a postdoctoral training at Dr. Sarah England’s lab, first at University of Iowa, and later at Washington University in St. Louis, his research was focused on the contribution of ion channels to vascular and uterine smooth muscle function throughout pregnancy. Currently, Dr. Lorca is an Instructor at the Moore lab, his research is aimed to elucidate the effect of hypoxia and high altitude on myometrial arteries from pregnant women.
