Program Director's Welcome
The University of Colorado Internal Medicine Residency program provides innovative educational opportunities to future internists and subspecialists. We pride ourselves on providing trainees with the freedom to individualize their curricular content and residency rotation selections according to their educational needs, rather than the needs of the program. This resident centered approach is exemplified by our educational matrix – residents choose a track; primary care, categorical, or hospitalist as well as a pathway; research, clinician educator, or leadership as the foundation for their educational programming. In addition, we have started a physician scientist training program and hope to add a health equity program in the near future.
Our mission is to help each resident realize his or her full potential and thus to train future leaders of internal medicine. Our graduates select a variety of career paths and are well positioned to impact positive change in areas such as academics, patient care, education and public policy. Our program strives to prepare graduates to excel in their pivotal roles as physicians, researchers, teachers, and community leaders.
