Mission Statement
To be a national leader in human aging research focused on the prevention of disease and the maintenance of functional independence in old age.

Philosophy
A significant proportion of chronic disease and disability in old age is attributed to lifestyle, as opposed to the aging process. Consequences of certain aging events can be ameliorated through appropriate intervention.
