Title: Functional Analysis of Complement Receptor 2 as a Lupus Susceptibility Gene (COMIRB #06-0501)
Sponsor: Alliance for Lupus Research, NIH, and the Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC) at UC Denver
Disease: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
Synopsis: Healthy individuals will be recruited for blood tests and questionnaires. Number of study visits will range from 1-15 in one year. Participants may also be asked to undergo tonsillar biopsy as part of this study. Enrolling adults age 18-60 who are on no medications and who do not smoke. Compensation for participation will be provided.

Title: Complement Receptor 2 as a Biomarker for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (COMIRB #03-833)
Sponsor: NIH, the General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) at UCHSC and the Pediatric Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC) at Children’s Hospital
Disease: Active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
Synopsis: Individuals with SLE and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as well as healthy individuals will be recruited for physical exams, questionnaires, and blood tests, with no change in therapy required. Study visits will take place every 3 months for 1 year, with additional visits for flares of lupus. Changes in therapy by the subject’s treating physician are allowed as needed to manage their underlying medical condition. Enrolling adults up to age 60 and children age 8 years and older.
