Sterling G. West MD, MACP, MACR

Professor of Medicine

​Dr. Sterling West is Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Co-Director of the Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic.

Following 30+ years as the prior Fellowship Director, Dr. West’s major focus continues to be on patient care and teaching. His present interest is in the maintenance and assessment of clinical competency in Rheumatology. 

He is an invited speaker on multiple rheumatology topics at national and regional conferences and has over 100 original research and educational publications.  He is editor of the book, Rheumatology Secrets. He is a Master in both the American College of Physicians (MACP) and the American College of Rheumatology (MACR).

Major area of research interest is in the pathophysiology and treatment of neuropsychiatric lupus.  Clinical research trial currently ongoing is measuring cognitive dysfunction and depression in SLE patients and correlating symptoms with MRI and MR spectroscopy abnormalities.  Additional areas of interest are metabolic bone disease and clinical trials.
