PTraC

The Pulmonary Translational Core’s (PTraC) mission is to provide specialized expertise in the areas of translational and clinical research by offering services, resources, and consultation to investigators in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care, while reducing the burden of research regulatory processes and easing protocol implementation. Ultimately, this allows pulmonary researchers to spend more time doing science to become more efficient and competitive.

In order to achieve this goal, the PTraC will have the following objectives:

  1. To foster the career development in clinical translational research of fellows and junior faculty by providing expert consultation and guidance in all aspects of the research process; form inception to implementation
  2. To facilitate the translation and implementation of basic research ideas into the clinical setting
  3. To develop, integrate, and maintain the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Center for Lungs and Breathing (CLB) biorepository and registries
  4. To support the development of clinical and translational research for all division faculty members

PTraC Services

The PTraC will offer a broad range of consultative services and key regulatory support at all stages of the research process (from bench-to-bedside research and beyond), which include but not limited to:

  • Feasibility assessment
  • Biostatics, bioinformatics, and study design
  • Creation of study databases
  • Preparation & submission of regulatory documents
  • Completion of study visits
  • Support in optimizing standard operating procedures (SOPs) or manual of procedures (MOPs)
  • Provide access to biological specimens and relevant de-identified clinical data

In order to achieve these goals, the PTraC will have divide its efforts into the following 4 cores:  Translational Core (TC), Biostatistics & Bioinformatics Core (BBC), Regulatory Core (RC), and Clinical Research Core (CRC).
