Research Interests
 
Dr. Moss’s research examines the mechanisms by which alcohol abuse and dependence increase susceptibility to acute lung injury.  In addition, we are exploring the effects of a variety of therapeutic modalities for patients with ARDS in NIH sponsored clinical trials. Finally, we are interested in the development of acute neuromuscular dysfunction in patients with severe sepsis and acute lung injury.


 
Honors & Awards

1996-1998 -  American Lung Association Edward Livingston Trudeau Scholar for the research grant entitled “Substance Abuse and the Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome”. 

1997-1998 and 1998-1999 - Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching at Crawford Long Hospital. 

2000-2001, 2002-2003, and 2005-2006 - Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching at Grady Memorial Hospital. 

2002 - Emory University Attending Teaching Award.

2003-2006 - Emory University Dean’s Clinical Investigator Award. This

2004 - J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program Mentorship Award.

2004 - Pulmonary Star Award from the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine.
