James Dugan, MD Chief Fellow 2018-2019

January 16, 2018

James Dugan MD
Congratulations to Dr. James Dugan on becoming Chief Fellow for the 2018-2019 academic year. James is originally from Reno, Nevada where he grew up skiing the Sierras. He attended the University of Oregon where he majored in philosophy, with no intention of going to medical school. He came back from an extended hiatus in South America in 2006 with a renewed focus. He moved back to Reno, Nevada where he completed a Master’s degree in cell and molecular biology, as well as bioethics. His true calling was not found in mouse colonies and murine c-sections, so he transitioned from graduate work to the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. After medical school he moved to Columbus, Ohio for a residency in Medicine/Pediatrics at The Ohio State Medical Center. Hematology/Oncology was a logical extension of his former scientific training and he came to the University of Colorado in 2016 to complete fellowship. His research focuses on acute myeloid leukemia under the mentorship of Dr. Dan Pollyea. Outside of medicine he enjoys skiing the Rockies, brewing beer, and spending time with his wife Krista and two girls, Sky and Bailey.
