Congratulations to Traci Lyons, PhD on being awarded the Department of Medicine Rising Star Award!
Traci Lyons, PhD joined the Division of Medical Oncology in 2014. Dr. Lyons epitomizes the model for an outstanding junior faculty in the areas of scientific creativity and cutting-edge research, high impact publications, regular presentations at prestigious national and international meetings, effective collaborations broadening the depth of the field and establishing competitive, extramural independent funding from ACS and NIH/NCI. She began her career focusing on the effects of the mammary microenvironment during postpartum involutions on postpartum breast cancer progression, resulting in two publications, in Nature Medicine and JCI, in a span of three years. In 2011, Dr. Lyons received the Susan G. Komen Grant for Research and Training that funded her research CCTSI KL2 Scholar award and her transition to independent faculty. Dr. Lyons is a recolonized expert in postpartum breast cancer biology and normal breast biology, her early success in research, acquiring funding and her publications in peer-reviewed journals demonstrate her drive, talent, and ability to be successful.
