Diversity and Inclusion

The University of Colorado School of Medicine along with the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics offer residents, students, and clinicians several opportunities to get involved in efforts to address topics related to diversity and inclusion both on and off the Anschutz Medical Campus.  Our Med-Peds program is committed to creating a residency program that promotes diversity and addresses the important topics related to bias and discrimination in medicine. Many of our residents, including Carolina Gutierrez, Claudia Douglas, and Helena Villalobos are active members in both departments. 


As a Med-Peds program we are continuously looking for ways to make our campus and workplace more diverse and inclusive. One of our initiatives is to have all residents and Med-Peds faculty participate in an implicit bias training and take part in Med-Peds diversity and inclusion lecture series. Throughout the year we also offer residents and faculty additional trainings related to transgender health care. Denver Health is a LGBTQ Center of Excellence and many of our residents have participated in the various trainings on campus. 



·         We participate in the SNMA and LMSA conferences every year representing all 3 departments.
