I am primarily interested in utilizing natural products as sources for the discovery and development of novel therapeutics.  My current project is focused on elucidating the mechanisms by which parthenolide, a sesquiterpene lactone isolated from the aerial parts of Tanacetum parthenium, is able to selectively eradicate leukemic stem cells.

By developing a computational model of the quantitative structure-activity relationship for parthenolide derivatives, we hope to gain insight into both the mechanism of parthenolide's selective toxicity as well the targetable differences present in leukemic stem cells.
