Capsule Endoscopy and Motility

Capsule Endoscopy

Capsule endoscopy is also offered as a means of evaluating patients with small intestinal conditions to include chronic or acute obscure bleeding, chronic abdominal pain, and chronic diarrhea. Approximately 100 capsule studies are performed annually.

For more information about capsule endoscopy please visit the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy website.

The GI Division offers expertise in gastrointestinal motility disorders, most particularly in esophageal and anorectal diseases.  State of the art solid state motility equipment is used for motility testing.  Esophageal motility includes assessment of esophageal function through incorporation of impedance technology.  Esophageal pH testing is also done with and without impedance technology.  pH testing is also done by means of wireless technology as desired and necessary. Approximately 300 motility exams and 250 pH studies are done annually.
