We had 20 attendees representing 15 organizations and hospices from 7 states.
There were many exciting research projects and ideas shared and discovered in addition to our great presentations. PoPCRN is currently involved in research in topics ranging including:
- caregiver relationships
- caregiver interventions
- hospice staff retention
- crossover between professional and personal roles for hospice staff
- patient and family literature needs
Areas of interest for future research which were noted in our evaluation forms include:
- disparities in hospice care
- the effect of informal caregiving networks on symptoms and pain
- caregiver support
- nurse support and participation in hospice-based research
- hospice staff burnout and turnover
- medication waste
Some quotes from the convocation evaluation include:
“All the research that is going on is very informative and very exciting.”
“All the studies and ideas were wonderful. It was “encouraging” to see that there are others having the same issues as our agency.”
“ I enjoyed hearing what others are working on and the opportunity to network and brainstorm.”
There was an overwhelming sense that the time is ripe to bring these ideas to light and that the hospices and other organizations in PoPCRN are energetically ready to participate and integrate the science of practice. If you have any questions about an idea for a project or think PoPCRN might be able to facilitate your work, please let Jean Kutner (Jean.Kutner@ucdenver.edu) know – we are excited about your research and to see what we can accomplish together!
