Consultative Medicine Service

Mary Anderson, MD
Brian Wolfe, MD
Associate Director

The Medicine Consult Service has 3 roles: Co-management with Orthopedic Surgery and Urology, general medical consultation and as a member of the Stroke Team, responding to and providing general medical expertise to stroke patients. The goal of the Consult Service is to provide expert care to our patients while imparting to our residents the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to excel in inpatient consultative medicine, co-management of surgical patients, and care of stroke patients. Such training is considered a core competency in hospital medicine. The consult service is staffed by a hospitalist faculty member and residents. The rotation is a required elective for R2 and R3 Hospitalist residents and an optional elective for other residents. Fourth year medical students (MS4) and Advanced Practice Fellows (APFs) also frequently rotate through the service.
