The HMG cares for patients over 10 service lines
composed of 17 discrete teams encompassing Internal Medicine, Geriatric, Consultatative, Oncology and Neurology disciplines. Our clinical presence also extends beyond the traditional hospital bounds through our neurohospitalists’ work in clinic and the launch of our telestroke program. In academic year 2004 the HMG saw 1,050 new encounters and a total 3,376 encounters. Academic year 2015 saw these numbers grow to 13,045 new patients and 52,476 total encounters; a growth of 13% from the year prior. With this growth the HMG now cares for approximately 31% of patients admitted to the University of Colorado Hospital. Clinical growth and development remains a dominant theme within the HMG through continued novel service line introductions and expansion of existing services. We believe that coupling our passion for high-value, patient-centered care with our unique approach to results-driven, data-informed process improvement results in superior outcomes for our patients. As such, we aim to provide care for as large a clinical footprint as we appropriately can and we strive to manage this growth through targeted, deliberate expansion. Thus, we are actively recruiting patients and providers to expand our Consult
, Acute Care for the Elderly
and Telestroke services.
