Emily Gottenborg, MD

Assistant Professor of Medicine


Dr. Emily Gottenborg is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado within the Division of Hospital Medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Williams College, completed medical school at Boston University School of Medicine, and residency and chief residency at the University of California, San Francisco. She served as Chief Resident of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, where she developed an interest in developing curricula around QI, Patient Safety, and Value in Healthcare. She joined the Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Colorado in 2014, where she now serves as the Director of the Hospitalist Training Program within the Internal Medicine Residency Program, and the Co-Director of the Medical Leadership Program. She teaches medical leadership, quality improvement, and system redesign to other professions and disciplines within the institution as faculty for the Institute of Healthcare Quality, Safety, and Improvement. Outside of work, Dr. Gottenborg enjoys Colorado activities (camping, hiking, fishing, road racing) with her husband, two small children, and her Bernese Mountain Dog, Bruiser. ​
