General Medicine
The hospital medicine group attends on the general medicine wards with housestaff and students and also works with our hospitalist residents on our hospitalist preceptorship month. The approach to care is different during this month, utilizing a pure hospitalist staffing model including multi-disciplinary rounds, systems based practice and emphasis on cost appropriate care.
Perioperative and Consultative Medicine
One of our most robust services, this group of dedicated physicians all have additional training in the art and science of consultative and perioperative medicine. The group cares for perioperative surgical patients, answers more traditional consultative questions and serves as a member of the Acute Stroke Service.
Acute Care of the Elderly Service (ACE)
Charged with improving outcomes for our aging population, this service works with patients over the age of 65 years. The focus is on systematized care of the elderly with special attention to vulnerable circumstances such as transitions of care and polypharmacy.
Hospital Medicine Service (HMS) - Observation Unit
This unit is primarily staffed by our faculty nurse practioners with physician oversight and provides care for all medical observation patients admitted to the University of Colorado Hospital.
Palliative Care Medicine
A growing cadre of group members work with our medical center’s palliative care service providing hospital palliative care consultation.
