Dr. Christine Swanson joined the division of Endocrinology and the IMAGE research group at the University of Colorado to further her research on the relationship between disrupted sleep and bone metabolism. She graduated with honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She earned her medical degree from Tulane University as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona and a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Clinical Nutrition at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Swanson is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes. Her clinical interests include disorders of calcium and vitamin D metabolism, metabolic bone diseases such as osteoporosis, and medical thyroid disease. She is also certified in Clinical Densitometry and reads bone density studies at the University Hospital.
Dr. Swanson currently has a mentored career development award (K23) from the NIH (NIAMS) investigating the skeletal effects of sleep disturbance.
