Peanut allergy is the most common cause of food related anaphylaxis. So far, eleven peanut proteins ( Ara h 1-11) have been identified as allergens. Ara h 2 and Ara h 6 are the most potent. Our research indicate that the activity of Ara h 2 and Ara h 6 together account for the approximately 90% of the allergenic activity of peanuts.  We plan to define in molecular detail how Ara h 2 and Ara h 6 interact to be responsible for mast cell activation in peanut allergic patients.
