The Division of Cardiology is headed by Peter Buttrick MD, the S. Gilbert Blount Endowed Chair in Cardiology and includes more than 50 full-time faculty members many of whom are national and international thought leaders.
The division has expertise in basic cardiovascular disease management, non-invasive and invasive cardiology as well as regionally and nationally prominent programs in advanced heart failure and transplantation, structural heart disease, complex coronary and vascular disease, adult congenital heart disease, complex electrophysiology and health outcomes. In addition, the division is home to a program in human genetics as well as to a translational research effort that includes expertise in the biology of heart failure, angiogenesis and small molecule drug discovery. The division is also the only regional ACGME sponsored cardiology training program and is proud to train the next generation of clinician and academicians in cardiovascular disease, clinical electrophysiology and coronary intervention.
