In addition to its Graduate Program in Immunology, the Department is involved in many other teaching endeavors. We team-teach the Blood and Lymph Block within the Medical School curriculum (Dr. Slansky is block director and Dr. Cohen teaches the immunology section), and teach immunology courses in the Child Health Associate/ Physician Assistant program (Dr. Cohen) and School of Pharmacy (Dr. Cohen).
We also have a grant (Drs. Lukin, Marrack, and Torres) for providing summer research experiences and professional development for high school teachers as well as teaching and mentoring experiences for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. A partnership program (Dr. Lukin) combines training in pedagogy and teaching opportunities in high schools.
The Department, through Professor J. John Cohen, M.D., Ph.D., a President’s Teaching Scholar, is very active in community education as well.
