Community Engagement

The Department of Family Medicine has been a pioneer in Community Engaged Research, driven by the understanding that working with the community is critical to research because it helps us to define our priorities for research questions, serve as a guide for how the research is conducted, and ultimately conduct research in a way that is respectful and inclusive to those we serve. Two of our DFM based PBRN’s include community and patient advisory councils (HPRN and CaReNet) and our faculty provide leadership within the institution of our CCTSI Community Engagement infrastructure, our Campus Community Partnership and the community based 2040 Partners for Health.
