The Department of Family Medicine has a long history of being involved in the community, and engaging the community in education and research has recently become a more important DFM priority. Our community engagement work has focused on better identifying communities interested in collaboration, forging partnerships with community members and leaders, understanding our communities’ health concerns, and building the necessary infrastructure to better serve their needs.
- The department is the founder of 2040 Partners for Health, a community-based participatory research partnership with five surrounding neighborhoods.
- We are leaders of the community engagement section of the University of Colorado's Clinical and Translational Science Award (CCTSI).
- The department is home to the Community-Campus Partnership, which seeks to connect the north Aurora community to opportunities and healthcare on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
