I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Department of Family Medicine as their Director of Finance and Adminstration. What a wonderful family of people! This position also represents an amazing integration of the diverse work experiences I have accumulated since completing graduate school in 1993. Now, almost 20 years later, I find myself in an academic department that is uniquely positioned to positively influence the future of health care. This convergence of human evolution and my own personal growth is both mystifying and energizing!

My professional life up to this point can be summarized as fulfilling three roles:

1) Executive Leader (6 years): Serving as the Finance Manager and then the COO/CFO for an FQHC that provides both behavioral health and primary care services to urban Native Americans;

2) Management Consultant (5 years): Providing finance and accounting services to small business owners, and coaching personnel supervisors within large companies on how to engage their employees using Gallup’s research on great managers; and

3) I.T. Specialist (8 years): Rising through the ranks of the computer-savvy, from applications developer, database designer, project manager, network administrator and I.T. manager.

As an administrative professional, I do not have any academic publications to my name; however, I do have a talent for writing that draws attention every now and then. It may interest some people to know that I once wrote regular columns for Mensa and the Honors Program Newsletter of my alma mater. My prized publication does not even mention my name – I served as a reviewer for Strengths-Based Leadership by Tom Rath and Barry Conchie, which the Gallup Press placed on bookshelves in 2008.

Outside of “normal business hours”, I have taught undergraduate classes in business administration; worked as a facilitator and Board member for a community organization focused on improving race relations; and served in various financial and administrative positions within religious organizations.
At heart, I am a devoted husband and father; a philosopher and sage; and an ever-learning quantum of an amazing universe. Nothing stirs my passions more than to connect with the life force that pulses through people and all other marvels of natural beauty that surround me.
