AURORA, Colorado – October 1, 2012 - The University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedics is pleased to announce the arrival of Dr. Margaret Siobhan Murphy-Zane to its pediatrics faculty on October 1, 2012. Dr. Murphy-Zane is to actively participate in the development of the clinical enterprise in collaboration with the Department of Orthopaedics, The University of Colorado Hospital and the Children’s Hospital Colorado leadership teams. Dr. Murphy-Zane will help to develop a clinical practice emphasizing medical treatment of pediatric illnesses and to research activities to advance treatment and application of musculoskeletal care.
Dr. Murphy-Zane graduated from Harvard University with a B.S. in Biochemical Sciences and completed her doctorate at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Following her residency at the University of Maryland Hospital, Dr. Murphy-Zane did her fellowship at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and was an instructor at Brown University School of Medicine. Dr. Murphy-Zane has previously worked at Tufts University School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as a Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon and as an Assistant Professor. She had also been previously appointed Director of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwoods Pediatric Specialty Clinics. Dr. Murphy-Zane is a Society Member for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (2002) and Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (2002). She has been awarded the St. Giles’s Young Investigator Award (2006), The Michael Cronin Award for extraordinary service (2003), and the Oliver Smith Award, for extraordinary service (2006).
