Burger named to "10 Female Spine Surgeons to Know" list
Becker's Orthopedic, Spine & Pain Management
Evalina Burger, MD, has been named to the Becker's Orthopedic, Spine & Pain Management list of "10 Female Spine Surgeons to Know." Dr. Burger currently serves as an associate professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and vice chair at The Spine Center of University of Colorado Hospital. In addition to her clinical practice, she is affiliated with the Scoliosis Research Society, North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Hartman, Kjoelhamar will ski for Buffs in 2012​

After tearing both her ACL and MCL at the World University Games on February 1, 2011, in Turkey, CU ski team member Katie Hartman underwent a successful repair surgery by CU Sports Medicine Chief Eric McCarty, MD. Having received approval for a medical hardship waiver, Hartman will return to the slopes in 2011-12 for the Buffs.

New name, same great hospital - TCH now Children's Hospital Colorado

The Children's Hospital is changing its name to Children's Hospital Colorado (Children's Colorado), effective immediately. Children's Colorado proudly adds the geographic location of Colorado to distinguish itself clearly on a national level and to better reflect its regional network of care.

Disc Replacement patient shares success story

After more than three years of debilitating neck and shoulder pain, Deborah had disc replacement surgery at the Spine Center at the University of Colorado in Aurora by Dr. Vikas Patel. What followed the uneventful surgery were exciting results and a return to a better quality of life.

Dr. Vikas Patel recognized as Top 10 Academic Spine Surgeon leaders

Serving as Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. Vikas Patel was recently named by Becker's Orthopedic & Spine Review as one of "10 Spine Surgeon Leaders of Academic Medical Centers to Know." His practice currently focuses on spinal non-fusion technologies, including disc replacement, dynamic stabilization, alternative bone graft materials for fusion and minimally invasive procedures. Congratulations to Dr. Patel for this honor and recognition!

Department Chair Dr. Robert D'Ambrosia selected as AAOS Mentor

Department of Orthopaedics Chair Dr. Robert D'Ambrosia has been selected as a mentor for the 2011-12 AAOS (American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons) Leadership Fellows Program (LFP). From the press release: "Established in December 2001, the LFP is a 1-year program that identifies future leaders and prepares them to assume roles of responsibility within AAOS. As advisor and confidant, the mentor fosters a close professional and personal relationship that continues throughout the fellowship year and beyond." Dr. D'Ambrosia served as the AAOS President in 1999-2000.
