Biosketch
Fred A. Severyn, MD, FACEP graduated from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine and completed an Emergency Medicine residency at St. Vincent Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and serves as an Oral Board examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He additionally has completed the ACEP/EMG Teaching fellowship.
He has a wide variety of clinical interests including acute resuscitation in emergency medicine, outcome from cardiac arrest, airway management in the EMS setting, disaster preparedness, and Emergency Medical Services. He serves as medical director for a critical care transport agency, co-medical director for the Aurora Fire Department EMS, and provides medical direction for the tactical EMS providers that work with the Aurora SWAT team. He is active in providing education through medical school courses; clinical supervision of medical students, interns, residents and fellows in the Emergency Department; as well as outreach education regionally aimed at both trauma and cardiovascular resuscitation. Additionally, his service interests include trauma prevention activities through the Aurora P.A.R.T.Y. program, national and statewide participation with ACEP, and local and regional work with the American Heart Association.
