Dr. Gaines academic interests include disaster management, EMS and trauma prevention.  She spent years developing administrative level emergency management training programs for the University Hospital.  As a member of the management committee she was instrumental in instituting COOP to the University. Dr. Gaines has participated in various regional exercises. She currently still does the integrated 4th year exercise.   Dr Gaines has been providing medical direction, training and oversight for EMTs and paramedics working in the hospital setting at the university hospital. Her passion for trauma is fulfilled by working with an outreach youth trauma prevention program.
