Dr. Liron Caplan is a rheumatologist who specializes in psoriatic arthritis and the broader category of spondyloarthritis. He obtained M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine and completed internal medicine residency at Emory University. Dr. Caplan completed Rheumatology Fellowship and Rheumatology Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at Washington University. He completed a PhD in Health Services Research at University of Colorado Denver.

Dr. Caplan leads rheumatology divisional efforts in clinical outcomes, health services research, and pharmacoepidemiology in spondyloarthritis. Dr. Caplan has expertise working with large administrative datasets and creating registries. He is a executive committee member of the Veterans Affairs Program to Understand the Long-term Outcomes in SpondyloARthritis (PULSAR) registry, and participates as an investigator in a number of other national registries. He also investigates the safety of systemic therapies for rheumatologic conditions. Dr. Caplan has been awarded research funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Arthritis Research Center Foundation, American College of Rheumatology Rheumatology Research Foundation, and the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, and University of Colorado.

Dr. Caplan is well recognized nationally for his clinical and research efforts. He serves in leadership positions at the American College of Rheumatology and the Spondyloarthritis Research and Treatment Network (SPARTAN).
