Adult Dermatology Clinics

With Colorado having one of the highest incidences of melanoma in the country and the Department of Dermatology already having a melanoma program, it made sense to locate Dermatology close to Oncology in the Anschutz Cancer Pavilion. This proximity allows a very close collaboration with oncologist Rene Gonzalez, M. D., both for melanoma treatment and research. The dermatology/cutaneous oncology clinic is adjacent to the Cancer Center Clinical Investigation Unit and has 20 examination rooms, four surgery and four general dermatology procedure suites, a phototherapy unit, a large laboratory for Mohs histology and immunodermatology tissue processing and two laser suites.  There are additional clinics for genetic skin diseases, lupus, psoriasis, infusion treatment, hair loss, and contact dermatitis, and in conjunction with the Cosmetics Center, cosmetic dermatology, including dermabrasion, laser and botox. The adult dermatology programs range from the most complex skin cancers to some of the latest aesthetic procedures.  The cutaneous oncology programs include both melanoma and non melanoma clinics, a clinic for Mohs surgery (advanced form of microscopically controlled excision of skin cancers doing minimal damage to facial appearance and structure), a clinic for transplant patients at high risk for skin cancer, a clinic for cutaneous T cell lymphoma, and a clinic for atypical mole. Other programs include immunodermatology (immunobullous disorders, psioriasis, eczema, acne, and other inflammatory skin diseases), genetic skin diseases, skin cancer and precancerous lesions, pigmentary disorders, connective tissue diseases, infections and disease of hair and nails.
Clark Huff, M. D., returned from private practice July 1, 2003 as Dermatology's new practice director. Dr. Huff's arrival, the recruitment of more physicians, and the hiring of Cindy Clark as dermatology CARE team manager, has greatly increased the clinics' capacity and shortened the wait time for appointment.
