Conference Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Improve patient care by integrating the latest developments in pain management into their practice of anesthesia for Pediatrics, OB, Thoracic and Cardiac.
  • Identify best practices and appropriate equipment to achieve the goal of safe control of the airway for surgery and implement improved protocols for the unanticipated difficult airway
  • Learn to appropriately use the ultrasound machine to properly guide needle placement for maximal success rate, minimal time expenditure, and minimize the risk of injury to neural structures
  • Recognize the risk and causes of coagulopathy during complex spine surgery and implement a plan to prevent excessive hemorrhage and to successfully treat potential exsanguination without use of excessive volume resuscitation or overuse of blood products
