The Neuronal Injury Program is a multidisciplinary group focused on the mechanisms of neuronal injury. By combining in vivo animal models, neurophysiology, neurobehavioral, histological and molecular approaches we hope to identify targets to improve functional outcome after an insult to the brain. We model transient focal ischemia using a middle cerebral artery occlusion and global ischemia using cardiac arrest/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CA/CPR). The projects in our lab focus on ion channel involvement in injury, gender differences and the neuroimmune response to ischemia.
